Abstract

The simulated responses of cortical and cancellous bone subjected to two different loading conditions are presented. These are impact type and blast type pressure loads. Three different models are simulated under the two loading conditions; they are a hollow cortical bone, a solid cancellous bone and a combination of cortical and cancellous bone. The strength model is based on Von Mises Yield [1]. The results show a distinct difference in the human response between an impact and a blast load. © 2005 Springer.
