The aim of this article is to reconstitute and interpret the group of opinions and judgments referred to as political action by the Catholic Church, which were submitted within the public space framework and destined to make a case for or put into question the reaches of said intervention during the first half of the 1960's in Chile. This is all interpreted within a secularization process framework. Sources used include the main publications of Catholic studies as well as those from political sectors involved in the period's formal politics. Significant conclusions include the efficiency and visibility of religiously- inspired opinion in the period's political arena and the evidence of the persistence of anti-communism, distancing from political organizations related to the traditional right and the persistence of transcendental foundations for the understanding of the aims of Catholic political action.
