Abstract

Ixodes ricinus covers a number of climatic zones and is characterized by a geo graphic variability of many of its life cycle phenomena. Studies of this variability may elucidate the conditions required by the species for its existence within its area. Comparative studies will only be possible when data are available concerning the variability of certain tick life phenomena within the same geographical areas during many years. This paper offers the results of many years of observations on the ecological features of the nymph of I. ricinus in Moscow region, USSR, in comparison with some literature data.
