Abstract

Invited for the cover of this issue is the group of Bas de Bruin at the University of Amsterdam, Monica Trincado and Hansjörg Grützmacher at ETH Zürich. The image is inspired by Sergio Leone's spaghetti western “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”, and matches the theme of the paper. Non-innocent ligands not only give rise to intriguing electronic structures, but can also trigger unexpected ligand-centered reactivity. The trop2dad molecule is a “pure-blood” example.
