Abstract

A virtual reality video player creates a different way to play videos: the user is surrounded by the virtual environment, and aspects such as visualization, audio, and 3D become more relevant. This paper proposes a video player architecture for virtual reality environments. To assess this architecture, tests involved comparisons between an SXR video player application, a fully featured 3d application, and a video player implemented in Unity. Tests generated performance reports that measured each scenario using frames per second.
