Abstract

Anatoly Ivanovich Kitov (1920-2005) is one of the most outstanding representatives of the first generation of scientists who had created Russian cybernetics, computer engineering and informatics. Due to political reasons his many-sided scientific and organizational activities were hushed up. Only recently publications adequately estimating his role appeared. The report represents biography and summary of main scientific achievements of A.I. Kitov as well as short description of his scientific school and his collaboration with IFIP and other international organizations.
