Abstract

This chapter discusses our recent progress on the synthesis, properties, and applications of fused π-electron systems containing group 15 heteroatoms, such as benzodipyrroles, bis-cinnolines, and benzophospholes. These compounds were obtained based on a modular approach using intramolecular cyclization reactions. Some of the thus obtained compounds were found to improve the performance of organic electronic devices by taking advantage of their high carrier mobility and orbital energy levels.
