Mathematics is the science of logic about shapes, structures, quantities, concepts related to one another with a large amount divided into three fields, namely algebra, analysis, and geometry. The purpose of this study is to describe the application of the STAD type cooperative learning model that can improve student learning outcomes in the material wide flat area in Class VI SD Negeri 34 Babussalam. The research method used was classroom action research (CAR), which was carried out in two cycles. For data collection, student and teacher activity data is collected by direct observation in the classroom. Student learning outcomes data is collected by giving tests to students. Data collected were analyzed descriptively. Based on the analysis obtained that the data of student and teacher activities are in accordance with the plan. While the analysis of data about the development of student grades shows an increase in learning outcomes after the action. From the analysis of data about the achievement of KKM obtained the fact that an increase in the number of students who reached KKM after the action. This shows that the application of the STAD type of cooperative learning in mathematics can improve mathematics learning outcomes, especially in the wide flat material.
