This paper presents a defected microstrip structure to realize a band rejected performance. Two different U shaped slots with variable lengths are introduced on the signal line which simply shows L-C resonance properties. Due to such behavior two notches are found about 5.8 GHz (the higher band of WLAN is 5.15–5.85 GHz) and 8.2 GHz (X-band usually meant for satellite communication). The entire design is developed on a dielectric material named as RT-Duroid having relative permittivity 2.2 and with a height of 0.787 mm.
