Abstract

Since the beginning of the digital era, organizations have begun to adopt or move towards digitization. Most of their day-to-day operations are based on biometric and other authentication systems, such as fingerprint authentication, facial authentication, voice and video recognition, and behavioural contexts. As disruptive technology and digital transformation take place every now and then in an enterprise, the attackers have also developed an interest in making the most of this technology by leveraging machine learning, artificial intelligence, and deep learning capabilities to build fake images and audio to compromise these authentication systems. The failure of these authentication mechanisms that are in place would lead to a lack of confidence and trust between end-users which will also affect the relationship between the company and the customer. Knowing the importance of security in biometric and authentication systems is a crucial step for any organization/entity that relies on such systems. The whole focus of this research is how to protect against these sophisticated attack vectors on biometric and authentication systems.
