Abstract

A dual layer broadband transmission type dual layer circular polarizer is designed for high frequency applications. In this paper, a low profile dual layer polarizer structure is proposed to achieve circular polarization at 60.84 and 66.24 GHz. At present, available polarizers do not have wide band characteristics with circular polarization for 60 GHz applications. Therefore, some innovative ideas and significant techniques have been employed to improve bandwidth widening of circular polarizer with good circular polarization. The simple method is employed to design novel dual layer polarizer, which is more flexible technique than those previously presented. The designed model of polarizer is easier to fabricate and less sensitive to fabrication error. The Simulation results show transmission characteristics of RHCP are achieved at 60.84 and axial ratio bandwidth is extended from 60.56 to 62.58 GHz = 3.28%. Whereas, the LHCP is transmitted at 66.26 GHz and axial ratio bandwidth obtained from 65.58 to 66.36 = 1.18%, respectively.
