Abstract

In this paper we apply genetic algorithms to morphological filter optimization. The validation of the method is illustrated by performing experiments with synthetic images, whose optimal filter is known. Applications to microscopic images of breast tissue are reported. The medical problem consists in the discrimination between cancerous tissue and normal one. © Springer-Verlag 2004.
