Reinvestigation of the acetone extract of the whole plant of Euphorbia tuckeyana yielded the new natural nor-triterpene 3beta-hydroxy-9,19-cyclo-4,4,14a-trimethyl-5a-pregnan-20-one (1). Its structure was established based on spectroscopic data including one and two dimensional NMR both for proton and carbon assignments The known tetracyclic triterpenes butyrospermol (2), lanosterol (3), 24-methylenelanosterol (4) and the steroid stigmast-4-en-3-one (5), were also isolated and identified.
