MERAWAT DAMAI DARI BAWAH UNTUK KESERASIAN SOSIAL: PERAN KELOMPOK KEAGAMAAN DAN LOKAL DALAM PEMELIHARAAN KERUKUNAN BERAGAMA DI MINAHASA UTARA

Abstract

As a multicultural and multi-religious region, North Sulawesi is well-known as a peaceful province. It is too hard to find an ethno-religious conflict here, otherwise some daily activities show a harmonious interaction among heterogeneous people. From the previous study, some recipe of this harmony are that plurality is embedded in the history of this region; and there are some local wisdoms and new religious fora, such as BKSAUA and FKUB, that configured harmony significantly. This research try to elaborate deeply to the role of religious fora or other local groups on preserving its social harmony. The research has aimed to know how the local mechanism on managing social harmony in the plural society of North Minahasa. Through literature study, interview, and observation, this research find the prominent roles of local religious group, i.e. BKSAUA/FKUB and Rukun-rukun, in multilayers formulation. Continuous meeting and daily cooperation among people can effectively manage problems and preserve harmony. Local mechanisms contribute to a regional peace.
