Abstract

The article comments on policies of the U.S. administration led by President George W. Bush regarding food safety. Bush's appointment of a cabinet-level committee to find ways to ensure safety of imported food and other products in the week beginning July 16, 2007, as stated, was a useful step. It is also stated that Bush's step would be more credible if the administration had not been cutting the staff and the budget for the food safety program of the U.S. Food & Drug Administration.
