A continuous-flow culturing apparatus was developed for rearing Tintinnida. Control over the yield of protozoa is through adjustment of both the food input and the flow rate. The maximum sustained output of Tintinnopsis beroidea approached 103 cells/ml, and higher yields are believed possible. The advantages of the apparatus for ecological investigations, and the required modifications for analysis of tintinnid trophodynamics, are discussed. © 1973 American Society of Zoologists.
