Designing a user ICT application in the Ambient Intelligence (AmI) Information Society requires an accurate study of the knowledge relevant to all the domains of interest for the application, in order to favour a holistic approach to the well-being of all users in their living environment instead of accessibility to the available interfaces. In the framework of a new approach for the design of user applications in the Information Society, a number of examples are provided, which highlight basic elements of the knowledge relevant and its structure. © 2014 Springer International Publishing.
