Abstract

The article focuses on the Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) models as tools in the prevention of the development of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It relates that there was lack of convincing scientific evidence that CISD and CISM were effective in either eliminating or lessening the development of PTSD. It also cites studies related on the subject, which include one by T. I. Fawzy and M. J. Gray on the efficacy of CISD.
