Abstract

Five genera of marine fishes are recognized in the family: Pinguipes, Prolatilus, Pseudopercis, Paraperci and Kochichthys, the first three endemic of South America. Lectotypes are designed for Pinguipes brasilianus, P. chilensis and Prolatilus jugularis
