Despite major advances in our understanding of the pathobiology of pulmonary vasculopathy and in the treatment of pulmonary vascular disease, pulmonary hypertension remains a severe condition that frequently progresses to right heart failure and death. This chapter will review several novel approaches to treatment, based on recent observations in both patients and experimental models, that may lead to new and more effective treatment approaches to pulmonary hypertension in the future.
