Abstract

In this paper, we show how a stream-function model for global ocean circulation can be parallelised, and in particular how the continent boundary conditions can be treated in a parallel setting. Our iterative solution technique for the linear system that results after discretisation, combines loop-level parallelism with a domain-decomposition approach. This two-level parallelism can be exploited in a natural way on a cluster of SMP's. © Springer-Verlag 2003.
