Assisted reproduction has been extensively researched over the past 30 years. However, the extent to which ethnicity impacts upon the outcome of techniques such as in vitro fertilisation remains unclear. Further research, involving participants from a diverse range of ethnic backgrounds, is required to provide healthcare professionals with adequate evidence on which to base clinical practice. This will facilitate the delivery of optimal care to patients of all ethnic backgrounds.
