The classic Markov-modulated fluid flow (MMFF) model is a stochastic model in which the rate of change of the fluid level is modulated by an underlying Markov chain (UMC). It was introduced by Anick et al. to analyze a data-handling system with multi-input sources [6]. More details about the conventional MMFF model can be found in Aggarwal et al. [1], Ahn [2], Ahn and Ramaswami [3-5], Asmussen [7], Mitra [22], and references therein. © Springer Science+Business Media New York 2013.
