Abstract

The article views characteristics of the processes of convergence of urban and rural population of Russian territories. Based on official statistical data of the Federal State Statistics Service, the authors have conducted analysis of dynamics and structure of the number of population, main indicators of natural movement of Russian population on the whole and distribution on urban and rural territories. Based on correlation and regression analysis with application of economic and mathematical instrumentarium, factors influencing the birth level in Russia are determined: population’s income per capita, number of families that received maternity capital, number of marriages and divorces, total number of births, and the number of Russians. The expected life span at birth is analyzed: differences between average life span of women and men, as well as urban and rural population, are analyzed. This fact is related to the difference in development of infrastructure of rural and urban population. The main directions of convergence of development of urban and rural territories are determined, the main goal of which is increase of the level and quality of population’s life, as well as creation of conditions for improvement of sociodemographic situation of Russian population.
