Abstract

Although once limited to the adult population, laparoscopic applications to urologic surgery are now being successfully applied to children of all ages. The current role of laparoscopy in children requiring pyeloplasty, orchidopexy, renal ablative procedures, ureteral reimplantation, lower urinary tract reconstruction, and varicocelectomy are reviewed. Newer applications of robotic assistance are also discussed with emphasis on published results. Future research will continue to define the safest and most efficacious applications of laparoscopy in pediatric urology.
