Abstract

This paper analyzes minor ions (mions) in ion cyclotron resonant (ICR) Alfven waves. Sobolev optical depths of the waves are examined. The relationship between the damping frequency gamma and mions are discussed as a function of the parallel wave number k_||. The variation of these properties across z_i/A_i charge to mass ratios is analyzed.I have several questions noted in the papers:1) can we expand one analysis for a_||i from bulk motion (noted from Castor, Abbott, & Klien (1975)) to a species-wise analysis and then model inter-species collisions of those bulk properties?2) Can we use a R_anisotropy analysis to demonstrate that Alfven waves generated at the coronal base will dissipate before resonating with, heating, and accelerating mions?3) what does ICD tell us about R_anisotropy and Alfven waves?4) has anyone used ensembles to model the summed effect of mions?
