Abstract

This article proposes a reflection on sport transformation through the comparison of its manifestations in modernity and in the contemporary period. By using varied imagery references, the text outlines analogical features to the debate, and points out the ways of modern and post-modern juncture appropriation by the sport, leading to a progressive expansion of the concept. The reflections presented here explicit sports aesthetic mutations steeped in the contemporary culture which, while not denying its modern roots, relativize the understanding of modern sport.
