In this article of reflection, it is argued about the relationship between the gentrification process and the disaster, from the earthquake that occurred on September 19, 2017 in Mexico City. In particular, it is about analyzing how the process of urban renewal in the area of La Condesa in the Cuauhtémoc delegation, cause certain conditions of socio-environmental vulnerability that, together with the earthquakes, made possible a disaster situation. For which, it makes use of different sources and official data, maps and newspaper notes. The purpose is to provide other clues for the discussion about disasters as a negative socio-environmental consequence of urbanization and gentrification in this place.
