Abstract

The neuronal regulators of biological systems are very difficult to deal with since they present non-structured problems. The software component approach can attend to this type of systems in a simple way. In this paper, a software component-based architecture of neuronal regulators is presented. The main approach will be the modelling of each neuronal centre involved with a message-driven component. As an example, we will discuss a model of the neuronal regulator of the lower urinary tract. A monitor has been developed to validate the proposed models. Several experiments have been carried out using the proposed model, and the results have been validated by comparing them with real data, exhibiting an equivalent behaviour to that of the modelled biological system. © Springer-Verlag 2004.
