Abstract

Clinical practiceclinicalpractice is where the clinical encounter occurs. It constitutes the focus of medicine. Since the time of Hippocrates, it has been composed of five activities. They are fundamental features of the healing relationship and have come to be known as anamnesis anamnesis, i.e., history takinghistory taking or clinical interviewclinicalinterview, diagnosis diagnosis prognosisprognosis, therapytherapy, and preventionprevention. The present chapter is devoted to the analysis and discussion of the logical, methodological, and philosophical problems of these activities.
