Desde que o samba é samba: a questão das origens no debate historiográfico sobre a música popular brasileira

Abstract

Este artigo, na linha de um ensaio bibliográfico, procura sistematizar o debate historiográfico e para-historiográfico que tem por objeto a discussão sobreas "origens da música popular brasileira". Neste sentido, procuramos examinar, criticamente, as bases argumentativas e as principais conclusões de duas tendências básicas: a) a tendência historiográfica que trabalha com o paradigma das origens como um lugar , situado no tempo e no espaço, a ser determinado pela pesquisa histórica; b) a tendência, mais atuante a partir do meio acadêmico, que coloca sob suspeita a própria questão das origens, com um lugar determinável, procurando analisar historicamente a dinâmica social e ideológica que os discursos de origem podem revelar.This article analyzes the historiographical debate about the issue of "origins" in the brazilian popular music. So, we try to highlight the agumentative basis and the most important asserts of the two main historiographic currents of this controversy: a) the current that affirms the paradigm of origins, as a locus, verifiable in terms of time and space, to be determined by the historic research; b) the current, most active in the academic institutions, whose attempts to establish a critical scope about the issue of origins itself and focusing the social and ideological aspects of the discourses that affirms an "outset" of history, by its deconstruction.
