SEM pictures were taken before and after tilting the specimen mount with the object at angles of 10-15°. Observing pairs of the resulting photographs through a suitable stereoscope (or by simpler techniques) gives a three-dimensional view of the object which assists in the interpretation of morphological structures. Examples are presented that show details of internal structures in the region between wheel organ and mastax of Brachionus plicatilis and compare the structure of trophi in different rotifers.
