Abstract

Fast demagnetization processes are observed with 50-100 femtosecond pulsed laser excitations and energy densities of some mJ/cm2. In these experimental conditions, space charge effects are usually observed in photoemission experiments. We present the study of a laser induced demagnetization of an epitaxial Gd layer with a quantitative measurement of the space charge.
