Abstract

This chapter deals with certain topics on the design of three characteristic types of wind-sensitive structures and in particular, the steel lattice masts, the steel wind-turbine towers and the aluminium-glass façades. Since nowadays a well-established framework of codes does exist, the previously mentioned wind-sensitive structures can be designed in a proper way with respect to serviceability, strength and safety criteria. The respective design procedures with comments on the codes applied along with certain practical aspects on the application of the wind loading on these structures are herein presented, whereas certain numerical simulations illustrate the respective recommendations.
