Abstract

In the context of topology and shape optimization, we minimize the sum of the elastic compliance and of the weight of a two-dimensional structure under specified loading. A relaxed formulation of the original problem which uses composites obtained by microperforation is introduced. A new numerical algorithm is proposed ; it provides a natural link between the previously known method of Bendsoe, Kikuchi, and Suzuki, and that of Allaire and Kohn.
