Eight individuals of Acanthochelys macrocephala were caught in February 2002 in the Chaco region of Paraguay (21°35.64′ S / 59°53.74′ W). Various morphometric measurements were recorded; the stomach contents and feces were also collected and analyzed. The status of the species in this Paraguayan region is discussed. Kinosternon scorpioides was found living in sympatry in some areas with Acanthochelys macrocephala.
