Abstract

Web caching is a commonly-used method to reduce access time for retrieving Web documents over the Internet. The two most commonly-used Web browsers, Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer, however, do not prvoide all the basic operations, i.e. add, delete, and update, for their users to manage Web caches. Hence, the user cannot modify (un)desired cached documents, and as a result the availability of Web documents to be accessed decreases, e.g. the network may be down when the user tries to access the documents. In this paper, we present a client-based Web-cache management that allows the user to have full control on managing cached documents.
