Abstract

Injuries in gymnasts are characterized by female predominance, young age, and overuse mechanisms. These factors play a key role in the practical approach to the management of gymnast-specific injuries as provided in this chapter. The younger age of gymnasts also has important implications for the choice of modalities with respect to radiation dose. With the combination of typical and frequent injuries in gymnasts discussed in this chapter, we aim to provide the radiologist and sports physician with a broad spectrum of gymnast-specific injuries.
