Abstract

This paper describes a knowledge-based manufacturing technology. We propose a knowledge navigation platform with ontology-based modeling for a user interface. This platform has a terminology connection search and can automatically support vocabulary collection and class definition for automatic generation of an ontology. The interface of the process model based on the ontology is expected to help users to recognize their standard procedure. Moreover, generation of an ontology from text resources may be an effective use of unstructured data. Both aspects exemplify the examination of use of ontologies with a user-centric approach for collaborative manufacturing. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.
