This chapter provides an overview of different psychological, psychotherapeutic and pharmacological interventions for adjustment disorder that have been developed and evaluated for this frequently occurring stress-related disorder. Interventions that have been designed according to adjustment disorder definitions in DSM-5, ICD-11 or its previous editions are considered. Psycho-social interventions range from low-threshold treatment approaches such as self-help interventions, relaxation techniques, Internet-based interventions or behavioral activation to more intensive interventions such as cognitive behavioral therapy or psychodynamic approaches. Furthermore, an overview of psychopharmacological treatment approaches, recommendations for clinical practice and an outlook on possible future research directions is provided.
