Teaching and research in mechanism theory and robotics in Tunisia

Abstract

Teaching and research in robotics and mechanisms in engineering schools in Tunisia can be a very challenging task. Indeed, most engineering schools in Tunisia are relatively young, and only four out of about ten engineering schools in Tunisia have mechanical engineering curricula. This paper tries to delineate the place of mechanisms and robotics in these curricula and the evolution of teaching and research in this discipline during the last two decades. Especial attention will be paid to the ways and means used to teach this type of courses. The role of IFToMM in promoting this field in Tunisia is also highlighted.
