Abstract

The Outline of the National Scheme for Scientific Literacy (2006-2010-2020) is the most ambitious science popularization policy ever enacted in China with the aim of greatly advancing citizens’ scientific literacy. This chapter first introduces the background of the drafting of this policy and then examines the tasks of and approaches to youths’ informal science learning contained in the Outline. Moreover, it reviews some good practices for youth informal science learning developed from the ideas in the Outline. Finally, it gives some suggestions for future development.
