Abstract

The computer simulation of poly(ethylene terephthalate) for non-crystallizing regimes was carried out for winding speeds of up to 3000 m/min. The simulated results (velocity and temperature profiles) were compared with published experimental data. Simple procedures for estimating the solidification distance, the initial force and the stress at the solidification point were developed. Both computer simulation and estimation methods were used to investigate the effect of some processing variables on the resulting parameters in the spinning of polyetheretherketones. Crystallization in the poly(ethylene terephthalate) spinline was also analysed.
