Abstract

This paper introduces a framework for integrating ontology- and logic-based approaches for context-awareness in Ambient Intelligence. A context description language is described, which allows to easily specify patterns of events which occurrences are monitored by an actual system. As long as the system evolves, symbolic information originating from heterogeneous sources is aggregated and classified according to well-formed formulas. Experimental results in a Smart Home environment are presented and discussed. © 2008 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
