Abstract
In this paper, we describe the design of a RFID-enabled container yard management (RFCYM) system in harbour to enhance operational efficiency. Design and fabrication of an active RFID reader and tag for monitoring container is presented. This study demonstrates the feasibility of acquisition of container information using active UHF RFID technology. Finally, we mention the limitations of this study and several future development directions. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2010.
