Abstract

A remarkable new genus and species, Tytthobittacus macalpinei, and two new species of Harpobittacus, H. limnaeus and H. brewerae, are described in the family Bittacidae (Mecoptera) from Australia. Additional records of some previously described species are given and H. rubricatus Riek shown to be a distinct species. Riek (1954) provided keys, descriptions and distribution records for the Australian Bittacidae. Examination of material in the Australian Museum, Sydney, has revealed additional species and distribution data which are recorded here. Copyright © 1973, Wiley Blackwell. All rights reserved
