Abstract

A long-term wave recording programme based on the west coast of New Zealand has allowed a number of fundamental properties of the ocean-wave field to be studied. This paper deals with wave- generation processes and in particular compares the spectral properties of fetch-limited seas with those found in the JONSWAP and other Northern Hemisphere studies. (A)
