Abstract

In a world of growing complexity, the map remains to play an important role in understanding spatial patterns. Advancing technical developments, such as Web 2.0, enable maps to assume new representations. From an independent medium, the map is increasingly becoming part of a larger whole. This is in line with the multidisciplinary approach of large (geo-related) issues. Whether this development fits within current theoretical settings is not clear yet. It is important that the map -in a dynamic and interactive setting - is able to provide answers to geographically related question. The appearance of the map has to adapt in such a way that it results in a clear answer.
