Abstract

The objective of this research is to investigate the optimum aluminum powder content in epoxy as adhesive and surface pattern on shear strength of single lap joint between aluminum-GFRP composite for electric car application. The shear strength was determined by utilizing the single-lap shear test. The aluminum powder content was varied in 0, 2.5, 5, 7.5,10 and 12.5(w/w), whereas the surface pattern varied in 5 type of pattern. Experimental results showed that the aluminum powder-epoxy adhesive has the maximum shear strength at 12.5% of aluminum powder content. However, for the use of the surface pattern on adherend shows slight differences of shear strength. The adhesive failure mode occurred the joining using aluminum powder-epoxy as mixed mode.
