Abstract

The ca.20 papers in this theme issue result from a conference of the Low-Level Techniques Group of the ICRM, held in Switzerland in 1987. Over half of the papers are abstracted separately in other parts of Geographical Abstracts. The papers are technical and give details of the latest developments in: 1) standards; 2) quality control including intercomparisons of radioactivity in marine environments, pre- and post-Chernobyl measurements; 3) recent directions of regulatory efforts; 4) applications, including measurements of changes in environmental radioactivity due to man-made catastrophes, studies of natural radioactivity, and geoscience motivated measurements; 5) new techniques, including studies and developments in both field and laboratory measurements. -after Editors
